Battersea Park

Battersea Flower Station

This beautiful garden shop is an absolutely stunning place. The flowers are gorgeous and there are plenty of gardening supplies. Battersea Flower Station has just about everything, and it’s like strolling around a secret garden hidden in the city.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home

This is not your average animal shelter and you don’t have to adopt an animal when you visit. The shelter started in 1860, and it has been under Royal patronage since Queen Victoria first became a patron in 1885. You can sign up to volunteer at one of their three locations or pay a small entry fee of £2 that will support the shelter.

Battersea High Street Market

This High Street Market is a place you really need to visit. The market opens on Saturdays and Sundays. It boasts amazing food and also offers weekly educational activities.

New Covent Garden Market

The Covent Garden Market is by far the largest not only in London but the whole of the United Kingdom. The market covers 57 acres and has over 200 plant, fruit, and vegetable companies. Do please note it is being renovated in 2020, so be sure to visit before the work commences.

575 Wandsworth Road

This was the home of Kenyan poet Khadambi Asalache until he died in 2006. It now belongs to the National Trust who have preserved the Georgian terraced house. You can take a guided tour of the home but you have to bring slippers or rent them in order to preserve the interior surfaces.

Battersea Arts Centre

Here we have an amazing Grade II listed structure that hosts all manner of artistic performances from plays to dance recitals. It opened in 1893 and was the Battersea Town Hall, which later became an arts centre in 1974.

St. Mary’s Church

This church was built in 800 AD, making it one of the oldest consecrated sites in London. It was then finished in 1778 and has many ties to the arts and history, having been the church in which poet William Blake married, artist J.W.M. Turner painted, and where Benedict Arnold is buried.

Battersea Power Station

Battersea Power Station is a Grade II listed building and is well-known for the cover of Pink Floyd’s album Animals.

Currently, it is under redevelopment into an area that will be home to residences, shops, restaurants and office space.
